I registered ShopForSeniors.com in 2008 because even then the online landscape for this audience felt fractured — heavy on hard sell or soft soap, light on genuine curation. The domain sat as a reminder while I built other things: domain projects, web work, family life that spanned Florida and China, and a couple of direct reminders from the body about how much independence actually depends on clear information and good choices.
By early 2026 the moment felt right to stop treating the site as a placeholder and build the publication it was always meant to be. We built on a foundation designed for readers, not for advertisers — clean, unhurried, and free of the bloat and dark patterns that define so much of the web. We are not chasing volume or venture metrics. We are building a small, durable library.
My "why" is simple. I have been close enough to the cohort to know what it feels like to wade through noise when you just want reliable signals. After everything, I still believe in building things that last and that serve the people who built the world we are now navigating. This is not a retirement hobby or a side project.
